What is Luna Lines?

Think of Luna Lines as your pocket-sized scene partner who's always ready to run lines. You can scan your scripts (paper or PDF) into a clean, easy-to-read format - kind of like having a Kindle just for scripts. But here's where it gets cool...

You can record all your lines and play them back like a playlist while you're driving, working out, or doing chores. Our smart playback modes help you memorize faster by repeating lines in ways that actually stick. And yes, we use some AI magic to make things smoother, but it never gets in the way of your process.

How It Actually Works

Recording Your Lines is Actually Fun

When you open a script in Luna Lines, you'll see two simple buttons: "Me" and "Them". That's it. No complicated setup, no confusing menus. Here's how easy it is:

  1. Tap "Me" to record your character's lines
  2. Tap "Them" to record other characters' lines
  3. Keep alternating as you go through your script

Here's the best part - you can flow through your entire script without stopping. Just tap "Me", say your line, tap "Them", say their line, and keep going. Luna Lines handles all the stopping and saving automatically. You can record a whole scene in one smooth take, just like you're actually performing it.

Use It Your Way

We know every actor works differently, so we made Luna Lines flexible:

  • Add lines manually for action descriptions, transitions, or dialogue
  • Record or re-record any line individually at any time
  • Switch characters on any dialogue line with a simple tap
  • Use it as a reader only – you don't have to record anything if you just want to read your scripts digitally

The point is, there's no "right" way to use Luna Lines. Some actors record everything, some just record the tricky parts, and some use it as a digital script reader. Whatever helps you nail that audition or performance!

Characters Made Simple

We keep character management super simple with just two types:

  • "Me" type - for the character(s) you're playing
  • "Them" type - for all other characters

When you create a new script, we automatically create two default characters named "Me" and "Them" to get you started. But these are just names – you can and should rename them! For example:

  • Change "Me" to "Hamlet" (but keep it as a "Me" type)
  • Change "Them" to "Ophelia" (but keep it as a "Them" type)
  • Add more characters as needed – "Polonius", "Gertrude", etc.
  • Assign each character to either "Me" or "Them" type
  • Choose from 5 highlight colors for visual distinction

Playing multiple roles? No problem - just create multiple "Me" characters. Big ensemble scene? Add as many "Them" characters as you need. The types just help Luna Lines know which lines are yours when you're practicing.

Your Lines, Anywhere

This is where things get really cool. When you hit play, your script turns into something like a playlist. Each line becomes its own track that:

  • Works with AirPods, CarPlay, and Android Auto
  • Shows custom artwork for each line on your car display or smartwatch
  • Lets you skip, repeat, or pause like any music app
  • Continues playing even when the app is closed

Six Ways to Practice (Because One Size Doesn't Fit All)

We talked to tons of actors about how they memorize, and built six different playback modes:

  1. Regular: Lines play in order, just like reading the script
  2. Me → Your Turn: Hear your line, then silence to practice saying it
  3. Me → Your Turn → Me: Triple reinforcement - hear it, say it, hear it again
  4. Your Turn → Me → Your Turn: Start with practice, get confirmation, practice again
  5. Your Turn → Me: Practice first, then hear the correct delivery
  6. Just Your Turn: Like running lines with a scene partner who only gives you cues

That "Your Turn" thing? It's basically a silent pause that matches how long your line takes to say. So you can practice out loud without feeling rushed or having to fumble with the pause button.

Got a paper script? Just snap a photo and our AI turns it into text instantly. Don't worry - we don't store your scripts in the cloud. Everything comes right back to your device. Free users get monthly scanning credits, and Pro subscribers can scan up to 500 pages per month (which is... a lot of scripts!).
